California Heat Illness Prevention Study (CHIPS)

Field Map 2014 - 2015

During the summer of 2014 and 2015, the CHIPS research study recruited 588 participants at 23 locations throughout the state of California. We focused on the states agriculture hub; the Central Valley, a 700-mile stretch lying between Orland (north) and El Centro (south).

California has a large and diverse agricultural production. We attempted to cover California's crop diversity to ensure we collected data that would reflect the range of work and the environmental conditions agricultural workers experience.
